Behind the Scenes - part 1

In Which We Reveal Secrets of a Large Library
Those of you who were fortunate to see our production of Educating Rita couldn’t avoid noticing the great number of books on stage. While plenty of these books were real, many were not. They were specially-made panels of prop books. Book panels are lighter and easier to [...]

Technical Challenges

It has been an interesting couple of weeks here. Educating Rita opened last Friday, May 15th. For three weeks prior to opening, we at Theatre Northwest worked long hours, getting this production ready. Things were hectic, but going well. I had been taking photos and downloading them, trying to find time to do several blog [...]

One More Toast

Ever wonder what happens after that final bow on the last night? Dismantlement, that’s what. Dismantlement- from the Latin dis- (removal) + mantel (mantle). We Get Art

Greg Carr, of G. Carr Illustration & Design in Denver, CO has generously provided us with art for our first two plays. Any relation to our Artistic Director Brett Carr, you ask? Yes, he is Brett’s brother, and no stranger to theatre himself. In the mid 80’s Greg designed sets for Bathhouse, Seattle Children’s, [...]
